Irish mobile telecommunications firm Eir has reported a 2% mean gender pay gap for 2024, down from 6% in 2023.

Its median gender pay gap for 2024 was 18%, down 1% from the prior year.

The organisation’s mean gender bonus gap for 2024 was -48% in favour of females, compared to -41% in 2023, and its median gender bonus gap was -36% in favour of females, versus -85% in 2023. A total of 89% of female and 83% of male staff were eligible for a bonus in 2024, versus 88% and 85% in 2023.

For part-time employees at the organisation, the mean hourly gender pay gap was -2, down 6% from 4% in 2023, while its median gender pay gap was -5%, down 13% from 8% the previous year. According to Eir, part-time workers’ shift in pay data is due to the inclusion of subsidiary employees who were not accounted for in 2023.

The 2024 gender hourly pay gap for fixed-time staff was -11%, down 9% from -2% in 2023, and the median gender pay gap was 13%, up 24% from -11% the prior year. Both gaps favour females in part-time and fixed-term roles, reflecting a greater representation of women in the roles.

A total of 30% of female and 50% of male workers were eligible for benefits in kind in 2024, compared to 28% and 51% last year.

Oliver Loomes, chief executive officer of Eir, said: “At Eir, we believe that true progress happens when we set ourselves a bold ambition to challenge the status quo. Our 2024 gender pay gap report reflects the significant progress that we have made and demonstrates our commitment to making meaningful progress to reducing our overall gender pay gap. This reflects our determination to ensure that Eir is leading the way in shaping a more equitable and inclusive society.”
