The Perfume Shop has reported a zero median gender pay gap for 2024, which is a 4.44% reduction from the previous year.
It has also made progress in closing its mean gender pay gap, which has fallen by 3.86% from last year to 14.99%.
The retailer’s mean gender bonus gap for 2024 is 31.82%, down from 40.14% in 2023, and its median gender bonus gap fell by 75.23% to 7.97%. This is a result of increased investment in performance-related bonuses for store teams.
The organisation, which has a 78% female-led leadership team, has seen a slight increase in male representation, rising from 13.6% to 15.2% primarily within the lower and lower-middle pay quartiles.
The results reflect its ongoing commitment to fair pay, ensuring employees feel valued and rewarded, and creating an inclusive, fair and rewarding workplace for all, regardless of role or gender.
According to The Perfume Shop, it is committed to further closing its gender pay and bonus gaps to ensure balance across all levels. It will maintain its commitment to the real living wage, strengthen pay transparency policies, advertise pay when recruiting, enhance family-friendly benefits including improved maternity pay, and benchmark its reward practices through its Top Employers accreditation.
Michelle Fellows, people, sustainability and development director at The Perfume Shop, said: “At The Perfume Shop, our people are at the heart of everything we do, so we’re incredibly proud to share the results of our gender pay gap report 2024. Achieving a zero median gender pay gap is a huge milestone for us, and it reflects our ongoing commitment to fair pay, career development, and recognising the hard work of our teams.
“We want everyone who works here to feel valued and rewarded, and we’re always striving to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. As we celebrate this achievement, it’s also a chance to reflect on the bigger picture. Gender equity isn’t just something to focus on today, but every day. It’s a reminder of the role businesses like ours play in driving meaningful change.”
