Irish postal service firm An Post has reported a below zero gender pay gap for the fourth consecutive year, as part of its ongoing commitment to equity and inclusion.

The firm’s 2024 report highlighted a -2.8% mean hourly gender pay gap in favour of females, compared to -3.8% in 2023, and a 0.7% median hourly gender pay gap, versus -2% the previous year. Its mean and median hourly gender pay gap figures for part time staff were -4.04% and -2.02% respectively, while its mean and median hourly gender pay gap figures for employees on temporary contracts stood at 5.61% and 6.19%.

An Post’s 2024 mean hourly performance-related gender bonus gap was 2.37%, while its median hourly performance-related gender bonus gap stood at 3.41%. A total of 7.44% of males and 13.43% of females received a performance-related bonus last year.

Employing more than 9,000 members of staff, An Post has seen increased female representation in senior management, rising from 34% to 47% since 2021. Within its general management group, female representation grew from 36% in 2021 to 40% in 2024, while among delivery and sorting staff it increased from 13% in 2021 to 15% in 2024. Both its upper and lower remuneration quartiles comprise 67% male and 33% female staff.

The firm’s commitments for 2025 include providing gender equality and inclusive leadership training for line managers, continuing to develop family-friendly policies, and promoting it as a great place to work for women.
