Aberdeen-based Robert Gordon University has enhanced its benefits package to cater for changing employee needs post-pandemic.
University employees will now be able to access benefits including 46 days' annual leave, a hybrid work policy, employer pension contributions with top-up options, an on-campus nursery with salary sacrifice arrangement, discounted travel to work and a bikes-for-work scheme.
Employees will also receive an Aberdeen Gift Card as part of newly introduced long-service awards. For 10 years' service, staff will receive a certificate, after 20 years they will receive a certificate and a £100 Aberdeen gift card, for 30 years they are awarded a certificate and a £200 gift card, while after 40 years they receive a certificate and a £300 gift card.
The university enhanced its package to help it achieve its aim of attracting and retaining the right people, and to ensure that any rewards, incentives or benefits reflect its increasingly diverse workforce.
Julie Skinner, resourcing and benefits manager at Robert Gordon University, said: “It’s not all about pay nowadays, particularly following the pandemic when people started to take a sense check on their life and reconsider what is important to them. Staff wellbeing is high on the agenda. The 46 days of annual leave allow staff to take significant breaks from work and our hybrid work policy allows 50% of hours to be worked remotely.
“Each employee’s individual needs differ and will change at different stages in their life. It was important that the recognition was reflective of the diversity of our staff, and we opted for the Aberdeen Gift Card for that reason. The Aberdeen Gift Card can be spent with around 300 businesses in the city. In the current cost-of-living crisis, making the reward flexible and useful is even more important.”
