The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, Thompsons Solicitors and Flight Centre Travel Group have been named as some of the UK’s Best Workplaces in consulting and professional services.

Established by Great Place To Work, the UK’s Best Workplaces in consulting and professional services list is compiled based on employee responses to 60 survey questions. Staff are asked to describe the extent to which they think their organisation creates a great place to work for a workforce.

Great Place To Work identifies relevant employers from its pool of certified organisations prior to asking the survey questions. A total of 85% of these focus on trust and maximising human potential and the remaining 15% on leadership effectiveness, innovation by all and values.

The evaluation is based on employees’ daily experiences of trust, reaching their full potential, innovation, organisational values, and leader effectiveness, to ensure a consistent experience across departments and seniority levels. Great Place to Work then analysed these experiences relative to each organisation’s size, workforce makeup, and their industry peers.

The top employers within each combined size category, which are large and super large, and small and medium, are recognised as best workplaces in consulting and professional services.

This year’s report found that seven in 10 employees at the UK’s Best Workplaces in consulting and professional services said their employer offers special and unique benefits, and their work has special meaning and this is not just a job. For comparison, 43% and 49% of employees at a typical UK firm said this, respectively.

A Great Place to Work spokesperson said: “The consulting and professional services sector is continuously evolving through digital transformation, ever-changing client demands, growing competition, and shifting workforce expectations, particularly around agile work structures and value-driven cultures. The best workplaces in consulting and professional services are meeting these challenges by using culture as their employee value proposition.”
