Something for the weekend: We’re all familiar with sport world cups, but did you know there’s an annual Tiramisu World Cup? If you love tiramisu, then you could stand a chance of becoming a judge at this year’s Tiramisu World Cup!
The organisers of the event are looking for 100 people to take on the role of tiramisu taster and official judge at the Tiramisu World Cup 2025.
The cooking competition is for non-professionals who compete to make their best Tiramisu. The heats are held in various locations across Italy and abroad, and the grand final is held in Treviso, where the world champion of tiramisù and the world champion of creative tiramisu will be crowned.
While it might sound like a piece of cake, there are some particular requirements. Contestants must be 18 years or older and not be a gastronomy professional, which includes anyone who has worked in a restaurant kitchen or pastry laboratory on any basis in the last two years and for at least six months, even if not continuously. This excludes servers, waiters and shop assistants.
The successful applicants won’t just be eating and enjoying the tiramisu. They will be required to check the integrity of the ingredients and competition equipment, ensure contestants are correctly positioned at their stations, and make sure the competition runs smoothly.
Applications will only be open for one day, on 13 September, from 10am to midnight.
The Tiramisu World Cup website said: “To crown the best tiramisu in the world, we need a jury worthy of respect. Every year, the judges of the selections of the Tiramisu World Cup are chosen through a 15-question test on their knowledge of the competition rules.”
If you are a fan of the delectable Italian dessert, then this will sound like a tasty opportunity, with a great perk!
