Something for the weekend: If you have an interest in butter, sports or love, then read on, as we may have found the perfecr roles for you!

Private members’ club The Pembroke Club, due to open this Autumn on 6-7 Grosvenor Place in Belgravia, has begun searching for a butter sommelier, a sports tzar and a club matchmaker. It published a half-page advert in Country Life about the roles, as well as an online advert on LinkedIn.

For the butter sommelier role, The Pembroke is seeking a “passionate person with a deep love for and understanding of butter.” The successful candidate will be able to “confidently curate” its butter assortment and assist in training staff using a silver butter trolley, the advert added. An encyclopaedic knowledge of toast will be essential to spread the love of butter to guests.

Some of the comments posted under the Linked In advert were butter-ly great. One user said: “Extra kudos if you hire a butter sommelier called Marge”, while another said: “I am sure the successful candidate will be in Clover”. A third person said: “I’d love to hear their advice next time I’m spreading… as unique as it can possibly get.”

The club’s advert for the role of sports tzar stated that it is looking for a “remote-control warrior” to oversee the sports displayed on its nine screens at its billiards club, Cues. They will be required to prioritise broadcasts of sporting events that are best suited to members’ tastes, as well as have an encyclopaedic knowledge of televised sports.

Meanwhile, to be a perfect match for the club matchmaker role, applicants should be charismatic, willing to work late and able to connect members looking to form friendships or something more. They should have an eye for opposites that attract, and have spontaneity and sophistication regarding the perfect seating plan. An encyclopaedic knowledge of love is essential, according to the club.

No salaries have been listed for the roles. The club is asking prospective candidates to email their cover letter and CV when applying for one of the jobs.

If you’re considering applying for the sommelier role, make sure you butter the club up in your cover letter!
