Something for the weekend: If you have ever wanted to live and work on the picturesque Isle of Mull, then here is your chance!
The island is looking to hire two people to live within its estate and run its operations as an estate caretaker and housekeeper. They will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the estate and its holiday let properties, staying in a three-bedroom cottage with its own garden.
As well as having passion and commitment, applicants should have knowledge of gardening, as there is a walled kitchen garden. Duties include weeding, mowing, strimming, chainsaw work and operating ground care machinery, such as tractors.
Other responsibilities include meeting and greeting guests and providing a welcoming front of house, log cutting, weekly cleaning of properties including laundry services, ordering of household goods and supplies while working to a budget, repairs for decorating, buildings, fencing and gates, machinery and road maintenance, and monitoring oil, electric, water, septic tanks and the water supply, which includes the main spring and all water systems in properties.
Additional duties where it is not essential to have prior experience include livestock and salmon river management, and boat maintenance.
The lucky applicants will work 40 hours across the week and weekend, with the working days and hours to be flexible around the needs of the guests and business. The combined pay will be up to £60,000 depending on experience and agreed contracted hours. Any required training will be provided.
The job advert stated: “The individuals have the use of an estate vehicle for their duties. These positions are not short-term roles, hence living and working on the island must suit the lifestyle of the applicants. This is a fantastic opportunity to run a successful business with the very highest standards and beautiful properties in a stunning coastal setting.”
According to the job listing, applications will close as soon as the right candidate is found.
Sounds like a great opportunity to us, with the amazing perk of living on such a pretty island. Being outside in the fresh air will definitely be good for wellbeing!
