Something for the weekend: If you’re looking for some joy in your life, then read on, as this job may be perfect for you!

Holiday letting agent HolidayCottages.co.uk has launched a search for a content creator to become its first joy seeker. They will be the face of its Happy Place campaign and visit the UK’s happiest destinations, as voted for in a survey this year, over the course of 12 months. Destinations will include Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and North Yorkshire.

As part of the contract, the joy seeker will receive £30,000, stay for free in a minimum of 12 holiday cottages and have all travel expenses covered.

The role requires the successful individual to share their adventures, and uncover local stories, unforgettable experiences and unique charms. This can be through photography, long and short-form social media content and blog posts, to showcase the joy of the places they visit.

Content will be shared across Holiday Cottages’ digital channels and with national press throughout 2026.

The ideal candidate will be a confident and creative storyteller with a passion for travel, the outdoors, and celebrating local culture within the UK. They should be experienced in creating engaging content across various formats.

Those interested in the role should submit an online entry form with a written pitch and a video about their UK happy place. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a call and asked to complete an additional creative task, and finalists will go on a short break to produce property and location content. The closing date for entries is 20 January 2026 and the winner will start in February.

Sarah Pring, digital PR manager at holidaycottages.co.uk, said: “We already know where people feel happiest in the UK. Now we want to bring those places to life through real experiences. The joy seeker will help us show the joy in every corner of the UK, from peaceful coastal escapes to countryside retreats, and inspire others to discover their own happy place. It’s a chance to swap the 9-5 for a year of creativity, adventure, and real connection to people and places across the UK.”

Sounds like an exciting opportunity for someone who loves to travel, being outside exploring new places will definitely improve wellbeing!
