Something for the weekend: If you’ve ever wanted to live and work in one of the Royal households, then this might be your chance!

Buckingham Palace is currently seeking new staff members for roles including kitchen porter, sous chef, chef de partie, management accountant and property project manager. Several of these are live-in positions, so successful applicants will relocate to Royal premises.

According to its job adverts, the roles come with a “generous” benefits package designed to support wellbeing and life priorities.

One vacancy, the kitchen porter role, requires no prior experience. With employment beginning in October on a fixed two-year contract, the position is full-time and up to 45 hours weekly from Monday through to Sunday, though staff work just five days within the seven-day period.

While the advert does state that experience in a similar role would be an advantage, it is not mandatory, because on-site training will be provided. Additional desirable qualities include taking pride in one’s work, enjoying being part of a team, being happy to get involved, and being keen to develop skills and gain experience within an exceptional team environment.

Pay is not specified, but it is described as “competitive plus benefits”. Salary adjustments will account for provided accommodation and meals.

Buckingham Palace aims to offer a flexible and supportive working environment, valuing work-life balance and accommodating individual needs. Its typical standard working week is around 45 hours, with two days off in every seven and regular weekends and evenings off. When travel to other Royal Residences is required, split shifts can be part of the schedule. Staff are given time off in lieu for travel time upon their return.

The official Royal website stated: “We work hard to ensure our salaries are reflective of the market median, and we offer a competitive reward package to all employees. We review basic pay rates each year, and offer performance rewards to recognise staff achievements.”

Sounds like some royally exciting opportunities, with great benefits packages!
