UK independent travel agency Hays Travel has awarded its more than 7,500 employees with a £100 bonus for every year they have worked for the employer.
Dame Irene Hays, owner and chair of Hays Travel told staff in a video message about the financial reward, which is being awarded to thank them for their role in the organisation’s success and their loyalty.
This follows Hays Travel’s announcement that the group’s total transaction value has reached £3 billion for the first time in its history, one month before the end of its financial year on 30 April. In the year ended 30 April 2024, its total transaction value was £2.55 billion, an increase of 17% from £2.19 billion it generated in the same period in 2023, and a group profit before tax of £73.4 million.
Hays said: “Since Hays Travel began trading 45 years ago, we have always remained true to our vision and values, and our strategic priorities: our people, our customers, and the communities where we operate. As I have said many times, our success is down to our people, which is why achieving this £3 billion milestone is an opportunity to demonstrate just how much their excellent work and unwavering loyalty are appreciated.”
Lenore Mason, general manager for recruitment and people services at Hays Travel, added: “This is my 37th year with Hays Travel and I feel so fortunate to work alongside brilliant people, for an organisation that values me and has continued to grow in the region where I grew up. Although Hays Travel has seen many changes over the years it has always been totally committed to its values and people. This news is exciting for everyone and just shows how much we are appreciated.”
