Kaizen aims to support employees across the organisation with stress management through the use of benefits and mental health first aid.
The digital marketing agency specialises in organic growth strategies, including search engine optimisation, digital PR and social media. Headquartered in London with an additional creative hub in Manchester, it has a team of around 50 employees who deliver data-driven marketing services.
It offers a range of benefits to support its employees in managing stress. Last year, the agency partnered with The Self Space to provide free counselling sessions in order to help its team navigate both work-related and personal challenges. The in-person and online therapy provider provides Kaizen employees with a safe, confidential environment to talk openly about work and life challenges, which helps with their stress management and mental wellbeing.
As part of its commitment to mental health, Kaizen supported one of its employees, Callum Taylor, to complete the mental health first aid course with Mental Health England.
Taylor, mental health first aider and senior digital PR executive at the agency, says: “Since qualifying, I have worked with senior leadership to develop a wellbeing strategy, review Kaizen’s benefits, and create a wellbeing hub to connect employees with relevant resources. As a mental health first aider, my role is to evaluate and enhance wellbeing within our agency, ensuring it remains a priority through ongoing support, resources and initiatives that foster a healthy and supportive work environment.”
Kaizen proactively supports employees with issues such as presenteeism and absence through its flexible work options, which include five days in the office each fortnight and flexibility around its core office hours of 10am and 4pm, as well as an annual leave allowance of 30 days plus bank holidays and festive closure. Staff also have the opportunity to work from abroad for up to three months per year and there are regular team socials throughout the year.
In addition, managers are encouraged to foster open conversations about mental health and proactively support employees in taking time off to prevent burnout.
The agency recognised that a supportive work environment is essential for employee wellbeing and productivity, explains Taylor.
“The fast-paced nature of our industry can be demanding, so Kaizen wanted to ensure that everyone on the team has the resources they need to manage stress effectively,” he says.
