Going above and Beyond during Corona Virus; Leominster

It wasn’t going to be a typical day off for two of the carers at Leominster Bupa Care Home.  They often give up their free time to help and have fun with the residents they have come to love as part of our care home family, but today was going to be a bit different.

Sadly Denise, the daughter of one of our long term residents Dennis, had passed away and this was the day of her funeral.  Dennis has been with us for 12 months and is nursed in bed.  Despite this, he is always smiling, but due to the COVID-19 restrictions, was unable to attend his daughter’s funeral.  Two of our #carehomeheroes, Bethan Palmer and Olivia Richards-Evans wanted to help him mark this sad occasion.

Bethan and Olivia sat with Dennis on the day of the funeral to support him during this difficult time. Over a cup of tea, Dennis talked about Denise, sharing memories of their life together and about what he’s done over the years and they also played a game of Squares together.

Dennis was very grateful for their kindness and care on such a difficult day and we know Bethan and Olivia made such a difference to how he felt. True heroes.
General Manager, Sally Simmons, said: “We are so blessed to have a wonderful team of carers here at Leominster who go above and beyond every single day. When I heard about what Bethan and Olivia did for Dennis on their day off I was overjoyed. They are true #carehomeheroes.”

Leominster Bupa Care Home is able to care for anyone in need of nursing or residential care, including those living with Parkinsons disease. Residents are offered a full programme of regular and seasonal activities, as well as 24-hour access to highly trained medical and care staff.
