Aberdeen HR jobs

Something for the weekend: In addition to being home to a record number of whiskey distilleries, the site of 10% of Britain's ancient stone circles, and providing great spots to watch for basking sharks and even dolphins, the Scottish city of Aberdeen has also emerged as the ideal base for HR managers to live and work.

If you’re looking to relocate, and kilt-y as charged for loving Scotland, then pack your bags!

HR and payroll software provider Ciphr ranked 100 major towns and cities against the following criteria: average earnings for HR managers, the number and density of medium and large employers and housing affordability.

Using data compiled from job sites Indeed, Glassdoor, and Adzuna, Aberdeen ranked top thanks to its high average £50,450 HR manager salary and high business density per capita.

The city was found to have 17.2 businesses with 50 or more employees per 10,000 working age population, well above the UK average of 12.4 per 10,000. The number of medium and large businesses in the area with more than 50 employees, which is the level at which many organisations start employing HR staff, is 265.

Aberdeen also ranked highly for housing affordability. Rent averaged around £786 a month, which was 19% of the city’s average HR manager's salary, and the average property cost £187,543, around 3.7 times the average salary. Thistle do nicely!

In comparison, homes across the rest of the UK typically cost £287,506, 6.5 times the average annual HR manager salary of £44,050, and those who rent were found to spend a quarter of their wages on housing, at around £923 per month.
