Best Places to Work Financial Services

Coventry Building Society, benefits provider Unum and insurance firm Admiral Group have been named as some of the best places to work in financial services and insurance in 2024.

The list was created by global workplace culture firm Great Place To Work UK by analysing the responses of employees at 26 UK-based financial services and insurance firms. A total of 85% of the evaluation is based on employees’ experiences of trust and reaching their full potential, while the remaining 15% is based on employees’ daily experiences of innovation, organisational values, and leaders’ effectiveness.

Employers that create inclusive, skilled workforces while also prioritising fun and camaraderie to enhance engagement, wellbeing and motivation, received recognition.

Coventry Building Society made the list due to staff feedback on its work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety and financial security.

Benedict Gautrey, managing director of Great Place to Work, said: “Our survey data shows that nine in 10 employees working at the UK’s best workplaces agree their senior leaders fully embody the best characteristics of the organisation, no matter what sector or size of company. Leaders of best workplaces practice transparency, decisiveness and prioritising honesty over image. This is what builds trust.”

Lucy Becque, chief people officer at Coventry Building Society, added: “We’re proud to say that as we grow the society, we continue to be recognised as a place where people matter. It’s really important for us to make sure our culture is one which makes every employee feel valued and gives them a place to shine, as well as adding a touch of fun to the workplace.”

Mark Till, chief executive officer of Unum UK, said: “We have worked hard to build a business where everyone can develop their careers and thrive, setting standards for the sector in our approach to culture and workplace wellbeing. Huge thanks to our incredible Unum team, who took part in the anonymous survey, earning us this fantastic recognition.”
