Energy supplier E.On has enhanced its family-friendly benefits provision for employees as part of its commitment to flexibility and equality. 

Through its Family Start Time initiative, E.On employees will be able to take four weeks of fully paid leave to support their newborn child and family. The policy applies to eligible biological fathers, female partners and non‑biological fathers who are the mother’s partner, partners in a same‑sex marriage with the child’s biological parent, as well as adoptive parents or full‑time foster parents who take the child immediately after birth. 

Meanwhile, employees who wish to increase their collectively agreed weekly working hours can choose the Full-Time Plus model, which enables them to work more during certain phases of life and to earn more accordingly.

Those who wish to have more time off and are willing to forgo part of their salary can opt for the Time Off Instead of Pay model, which allows them to acquire up to 20 additional days of leave per year. 

Alternatively, they can choose the Pay Instead of Time Off model, where they can give up portions of their leave entitlement above the statutory minimum and receive financial compensation instead.

The employer introduced the initiatives following the results of a survey conducted among its workforce. Through dialogue with employees, it developed flexible, sustainable options that take into account their diverse interests and balance individual needs with operational requirements.
