Lenovo UK and Ireland has received menopause-friendly accreditation as part of its commitment to supporting employees experiencing menopause in the workplace.
To achieve accreditation, which was established by Henpicked: Menopause In The Workplace, the technology firm had to demonstrate its effectiveness in culture, policies and practices, training, engagement and the working environment.
Lenovo, which employs more than 800 staff in the UK and Ireland, created a menopause employee resource group to support those affected by the menopause and perimenopause. The group’s objectives include fostering open conversations and raising awareness to create a more inclusive and understanding workplace environment, educating employees and managers about the menopause, its symptoms and its impact, and advocating for policies and practices that accommodate employees’ needs, such as flexible-working arrangements and necessary adjustments to the working environment.
Further objectives include providing training and resources so employees and managers can better understand the menopause and how to support those experiencing it, integrating menopause support into Lenovo’s broader health, wellbeing and inclusion strategy, leveraging existing resources such as the employee assistance programme, providing access to health and wellbeing programmes, and communicating its menopause-friendly commitment internally via newsletters, intranet, webinars and events.
Lenovo also supports employees experiencing the menopause through the Peppy app, which offers expert, personalised and confidential support for menopause-related issues, a menopause toolkit that includes articles, podcasts and webinars on the menopause and connects women, businesses and organisations worldwide, and trained menopause champions who are members of the employee resource group.
Its adjustments to its office environment include onsite air-conditioning, fans, period products, quiet spaces, frequent breaks, a hybrid working environment, and flexible working hours.
Adrian Criddle, vice president and general manager of Lenovo UK and Ireland, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive the menopause-friendly accreditation. This recognition reflects our dedication to creating a workplace where all employees feel supported and valued. Menopause can be a challenging time, and we believe that supporting our employees through all stages of their lives is crucial to maintaining a happy, healthy, and productive workforce.”
