Retailer Boots and No7 Beauty Company has received a Long-Term Impact Honour award in Menopause Friendly’s fourth birthday honours.

The award celebrates organisations that have taken action around menopause in the workplace and continued to offer support on a long-term basis, building on strong foundations and keeping the momentum going.

It recognises employers that have become recognised leaders, continued to embed and grow support to reach more employees, and normalise menopause conversations across their organisation and beyond

Deborah Garlick, founder and chief executive officer of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace and Menopause Friendly, said: “Boots and No7 Beauty Company was one of the first to take action, recognising the importance of supporting employees through menopause well before it became a widespread conversation. It has continued to build, embed and grow support, reaching more people across the organisation and making menopause awareness part of everyday culture. Its commitment hasn’t wavered. It has shown what it means to turn early action into long-term impact, and its leadership has inspired others to follow its example.”

Una Kent, vice president ESG and DEI, international at Boots, added: “We’re really proud that our menopause work and long-term commitment has been recognised with this honour. As an organisation, our menopause related work over the years has been both team member and customer focussed; raising awareness, breaking down barriers within society and helping those experiencing the menopause get the support they need. A huge thank you to Henpicked and to the teams who continue to bring their passion to this work.”

The retailer first offered menopause support in the 1950s by publishing leaflets for employees on the condition. It has since run an awareness campaign, hosted awareness training, e-learning modules and webinars, introduced a menopause wellbeing service, launched a menopause support network, published guidance for line managers and staff, and normalised menopause conversations across its workplaces, stores and communities.

In 2022, Boots received menopause-friendly employer accreditation from Menopause in the Workplace, while Boots Opticians introduced workplace menopause champions earlier this year.
