Supermarket Asda has introduced a later-life care advice and mortgage advice benefit for its 150,000 employees.
The later-life care advice benefit, offered by Legal and General’s Care Concierge service, provides employees with confidential one-to-one telephone services where they can receive support and advice about later-life care for their loved ones.
The benefit is available to all Asda employees free of charge. The service can offer guidance on finding care homes and home care services, information on NHS funding entitlement, state care support and other benefits.
The Mortgage Advice Bureau will offer Asda employees free, unbiased mortgage and protection advice. It offers an app with a budget planner, and one-to-one telephone or video appointments with a mortgage adviser at a time to suit staff.
Employees at Asda have also accepted the supermarket’s proposal to increase retail pay rates to £12.04 per hour, as reported earlier this month.
Hayley Tatum, chief people and corporate affairs officer at Asda, said: “We have made a record investment in pay this year to recognise the great work our [employees] do serving customers every day and we are delighted that our proposal has been accepted.
“We also understand that supporting our [employees] goes beyond pay and the workplace, which is why we continue to explore new benefits for [employees] to provide support for their and their families' health and wellbeing.”
