Employee benefits consultancy organisation PIB Group is to acquire corporate healthcare intermediary business i2 Healthcare.

The acquisition marks the first specialist employee benefits business that has been bought by PIB Group since the organisation began making acquisitions in 2016. The transaction has been completed in order to further strengthen PIB Group’s employee benefits proposition.

PIB Group provides employee benefits consultancy services around areas such as flexible benefits, pensions, employee communications and engagement. It seeks to help corporate clients to devise employee benefits strategies.

i2 Healthcare advises corporate clients on health insurance and employee wellness requirements, specialising in private medical insurance (PMI), group life insurance and income protection. The organisation currently places premiums of approximately £30 million annually for more than 80 public and private sector organisations that span the legal, financial, construction, manufacturing and automotive industries.

The Birmingham-based i2 Healthcare team will join PIB Group’s existing employee benefits division and continue to trade under its own brand. Paul Brantingham and Simon Derby, founding directors and shareholders at i2 Healthcare, will remain as the organisation’s directors.

David Skinner (pictured), managing director at PIB Employee Benefits, said: “i2 Healthcare [is an expert] at what [it does] and we really value [its] client-centric approach. We’re looking forward to welcoming Paul, Simon and their team to PIB Employee Benefits and working closely with them to further enhance the services they offer to their valued clients.”

Paul Brantingham, director at i2 Healthcare, added: “Joining PIB is an important milestone in i2 Healthcare’s 10-year history and is a natural progression for us. To be recognised as specialists in our market by PIB and having the opportunity to continue growing through their support is a real endorsement of what we have achieved so far. We are looking forward to joining a wider network of experts who are renowned for their specialisms in their chosen markets.”

Simon Derby, director at i2 Healthcare, said: “We are often appointed as both broker and advisor to our clients where long-standing relationships are formed. I’m delighted that, through PIB, we can continue those valued relationships and design bespoke solutions through our focused approach while also remaining independent.”
