Fragrance retailer The Perfume Shop has received Top Employer certification due to its approach to strategy, people, policy and practice.
Established by the Top Employers Institute, certification is offered based on excellence in people practices. After receiving submissions, the institute carries out verification and auditing processes before awarding certification.
Earlier this year, The Perfume Shop completed a submission across different areas of people practices, including people strategy, recruitment, learning and skills, career development, pay and benefits, engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion, and wellbeing.
It received certification based on its range of employee benefits, which include staff discounts, the chance to earn commission during the seasonal trading periods, a TPS Perks scheme that provides discounts at high street retailers, a virtual GP service, mental health support and lifestyle advice through its Aviva Digicare+ Workplace benefit, a holiday allowance that increases with service, and an extra paid day off to recognise personal milestones such as getting married, a big birthday or moving house.
The retailer is also an accredited living wage employer to ensure all staff are paid fairly, feel rewarded and valued, and offers opportunities for people to develop their career through apprenticeships, internal management training programmes and vocational learning.
