Facilities transformation firm Mitie and supermarket Lidl GB have been recognised as UK Top Employers for 2026.
The UK Top Employer rankings, which were established by the Top Employers Institute, are based on its HR best practices survey. The survey covers six HR areas comprising 20 topics, including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity, equality and inclusion, and wellbeing.
It recognises employers that are dedicated to creating high-performing workplaces through data-driven people strategies, demonstrated through HR policies.
Mitie achieved a score of 92.51%, an increase from its 2025 score of 92.47%. It was recognised due to its recognition schemes, free shares, 24/7 access to a free multi-language virtual GP service, life assurance, and an employee assistance programme. Employees also have access to low interest loans, advances on pay and financial advice, provided by Salary Finance.
Meanwhile, Lidl produced good results in the talent acquisition, onboarding, learning, employer branding, and integrity areas. Its consistent development in the onboarding area is considered to encourage new employees to reach their performance level and enjoy long-term success from day one. Lidl also received the Enterprise Seal for its high standards and quality processes for exemplary HR management.
Adrian Seligman, chief executive officer of Top Employers Institute, said: “Achieving a UK Top Employer Certification for 2026 reflects employers’ dedication to building an outstanding workplace that enables sustained business performance. Their strong alignment between people strategy and organisational goals, combined with a commitment to continuous improvement, demonstrates the impact of their transformative practices.”
Kathryn Dolan, chief people officer at Mitie, added: “We are proud to be recognised, highlighting our commitment to creating a workplace where our 84,000 employees can truly thrive. This follows another year of Mitie putting its people first to deliver fair, inclusive and equal business practices.”
Stephanie Rogers, chief people officer at Lidl GB, said: “This recognition makes us proud and we view it as a promise: Every day, we give our all to create an environment in which our employees can grow, develop their skills and reach new heights together with us. Our employees are the foundation of our success, and their passion and performance are the reason why our customers enjoy shopping at Lidl every day.”
