Lancashire County Council, BAE Systems and Thames Valley Police were some of the employers recognised at the Menopause Friendly Employer Awards 2024.
The awards took place for the third consecutive year on Wednesday 11 September at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. It was hosted by TV and radio presenter Lisa Snowdon and organised by Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace.
The event recognises organisations and individuals that provide support and resources that normalise menopause in the workplace, and show innovation and evidence of the impact and positive changes.
This year's winners include Lancashire County Council, which received the best trained workforce award, Thames Valley Police for most inclusive menopause friendly employer, and Nuclear Decommissioning Authority for most menopause friendly working environment.
Meanwhile, the menopause-friendly employer of the year award was split into two for the private and public sectors and won by BAE Systems and Leicestershire County Council, respectively.
Debra Jones, wellbeing officer talent and performance people services at Lancashire County Council, said: “We committed to training our workforce to ensure that everyone in the organisation, no matter what role they’re in, can get the right support that is most appropriate for them. Crucial to our success was not just to get management support for our aims but to have their buy-in to being trained themselves to enable them to support their staff. We also used a variety of training methods to make it accessible to everybody.”
Deborah Garlick, chief executive officer and founder of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, added: “The awards shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done by members of the menopause-friendly membership and accreditation. What our members are doing is changing hearts and minds about menopause for good, helping people live better lives today and for generations to come.
