Great Place to Work

Trident Utilities has received Great Place to Work recognition due to its range of wellbeing initiatives that help employees feel supported.

The recognition is awarded based on a trust index score and anonymous feedback from staff. A total of 96% of employees said Trident is a great place to work, and it achieved an overall trust index score of 88%.

As many as 89% of employees said they feel they can be themselves at work, they feel like a full member of the team, regardless of their role, and want to stay with Trident long-term. Staff also said they feel comfortable questioning leadership and understand what is expected of them.

Over the last few years, the organisation has invested in a range of wellbeing initiatives, such as mental health first aiders, Six Connections training to help reduce stigma around mental health, and training for staff through the Orange Button Community Scheme. This is a suicide prevention scheme that trains people to recognise when someone might be struggling and gives them the confidence to start a conversation and signpost support. If someone needs help, they can speak to a trained colleague wearing an orange badge and be guided towards support.

Michael Dugdale, managing director at Trident, said: “Our people are at the centre of everything we do. Over the last 25 years, we’ve focused on creating an environment where people feel supported, trusted and able to grow. This certification is important because it’s based on what our team actually experience day to day. It shows we’re on the right track, but we know there’s always more we can do to keep improving.”

Alex Mottershead, head of procurement and supplier services at Trident, added: “Everyone has challenges in their life at some point, so it’s great to know there are employees who can help and that the firm is supportive whatever that issue might be. It’s part of what makes it such a great place to work. Achieving Great Place to Work certification is something we’re proud of, but it’s not the end goal. It’s a reflection of the culture we’ve built so far and a benchmark for where we go next. We’ll keep listening, keep improving and keep investing in our people, because that’s what ultimately drives everything we do.”
