St Albans-based digital marketing agency Wagada has won the Workplace wellbeing award at the Inspiring Herfordshire 2019 Awards, organised by the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce.
The awards event, which was initially launched in 2012, celebrates the achievements and contributions of local businesses and individuals to the growth of Hertfordshire.
Wagada, which employs 12 permanent staff and 16 freelancers, won the Workplace wellbeing award in recognition of its flexible and supportive workplace culture, which enables staff to take time to develop their interests outside of work in order to improve mental and physical health.
In 2019, the organisation launched Wagada Walking Wednesdays, encouraging employees to take walks through the countryside during their lunch breaks, rather than remain at their desks. The business also organises regular social activities; employees have run a local half marathon and 5km race for charity.
Accountancy firm Kingston Smith was highly commended in the Workplace wellbeing award category. Other winning organisations include Sonovision, which took the award for Excellence in people development, VolkerWessels UK, named Business of the year, medium to large, and website design firm Rubber Cheese, which won Business of the year, small to medium.
Winning employers attended an awards ceremony at St Albans Cathedral on Thursday 13 June 2019.
Cheryl Luzet (pictured), managing director at Wagada, said: “We have put a lot of investment into making Wagada a great place for our team to work, so it is really special to receive this recognition from the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce.
“As a mum myself, it has always been important to me to be able to offer the team strong flexible working opportunities and work-life balance. We love to see the team develop and grow and working in an industry that is ever-changing, training and development have always featured high on our list of priorities.”
