Atom Bank has been certified as a Great Place to Work in recognition of its commitment to fostering an inclusive and progressive workplace culture.
The Great Place to Work certification is based on confidential feedback from employees through an anonymous trust index survey. It assesses employee experience across credibility, respect and fairness, and whether staff confirm organisations have a consistently positive workplace culture.
The bank achieved a trust index score of 82 as a result of its enhanced support and inclusion efforts to improve its family leave offering. It has also introduced menopause champions and created the Atom Women’s network, which now has more than 100 active members.
The achievement is additionally the result of a period of investment in its people and culture; this year it moved its workforce to a new location in Newcastle while continuing its fully flexible-working practices. It invested in its new office in order to facilitate recruitment, onboarding, training and collaboration for staff across the business.
Over the last 12 months, Atom, which currently employs around 600 employees, has welcomed 57 new people, including eight graduate trainees. It moved to a four-day working week for all employees with no loss in salary in November 2021, which has been successful and has had a positive impact on the organisation as a great place to work.
Helen Wilson, chief operations officer at Atom Bank, said: “Achieving the Great Place to Work certification is a fantastic milestone that truly reflects the dedication and passion of our entire team. We are committed to making Atom a workplace where everyone can thrive, and this certification validates the substantial steps we have taken over the last year.
“From investments in employees, to opening our new [headquarters] in Newcastle, we are continually evolving to ensure Atom remains a truly great place to start and build a career right here in the north east.”
