Health food retailer Protein Works has appointed Lyndsay Chambers as its new chief human resources officer.

Chambers will accelerate the organisation’s commitment to coaching, mentoring and cultivating new leaders, as over a quarter of its workforce is aged 25 or under. She has focuses on developing talent and building high-performing teams.

She joins from the medical food business Vitaflo, where she spent 10 years as chief people officer. Chambers supported rapid business growth through commercially focused people strategies. She has also held senior HR roles at Hewlett Packard and the Department for Work and Pensions.

Chambers said: “The story and ambition of Protein Works drew me in instantly. There is an incredible amount of pride, passion and expertise here, and that’s something I want to nurture and bottle for new recruits.

“Employment rates show that young people are being overlooked in today’s markets, often in favour of AI-driven solutions. Protein Works is already using AI extensively to support its innovation and processes, but for us, embracing new technology and developing young talent aren’t in competition. It’s up to fast-growing employers such as Protein Works to give grads a chance and tap into this country’s tremendous talent pool.”

Laura Keir, chief executive officer at Protein Works, added: “Protein Works is passionate about nurturing early-career professionals within our fast-paced, supportive environment and people-centred culture. It’s also something that I’m personally very passionate about. It’s an approach that I like to call from grad to great, and it’s achieved through more than simply giving people a mentor; it’s about helping them truly reach their potential to be board members and future leaders here.

“I’m so pleased that we are welcoming Lyndsay to the team to further support this vision. She brings deep expertise in talent development and coaching, and will play a critical role in ensuring we continue to unlock the potential of our people. Because when our people win, so does our business.”
