South Staffordshire College and Cornwall Council have been shortlisted in the category Best public sector benefits at the Employee Benefits Awards 2024.
This award, which was introduced in 2023, is aimed at public sector organisations that cover public goods or government services, such as law enforcement, the military, infrastructure, public transport, public education, healthcare and government organisations.
The full category shortlist is:
- Cornwall Council
- Defra group - Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
- South Staffordshire College
- University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Last year, Mid Yorks Hospitals NHS Trust scooped the award due to its commitment to its benefits and reward strategy, through which it tried to consider all of its workforce, do everything within its budget, and improve its ability to attract, retain and motivate employees.
It reviewed its benefits provision to ensure it continued to support staff and introduced new initiatives to help ease any pressures they were facing. Its cost-of-living communications campaign included an increase usage of its benefits platform, a move from paper vouchers to digital e-gift cards within its recognition scheme, and a change in eligibility around flexible working requests.
A Mid Yorks Hospitals NHS Trust spokesperson said: “It’s absolutely amazing to have won. For the NHS, it’s been a really difficult few years, so to get this award after everything that we’ve tried to do to help the workforce, is great.”
The 22nd annual Employee Benefits Awards is the event of the year for the reward, benefits and HR industry, providing the opportunity to recognise and celebrate organisations, teams and individuals that made a significant difference through their reward and benefits strategies in 2023.
The daytime event, which will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on Friday 14 June, will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment and the chance to network with industry professionals.
