Maintenance workers at Livv Housing in Knowsley, Merseyside, have accepted a pay deal for 2024/25 worth between 8% and 8.5%, ending long-running strike action.

The workers, who have been striking since October and are members of trade union Unite, voted to accept a 7.7% pay rise, as well as a £175 non-consolidated payment.

As part of the deal, matched pension contributions will increase from 6% to 10%, a pension salary sacrifice scheme will be implemented, and staff will receive a further three days of annual leave a year.

In addition, there will be an immediate reduction in employees’ working week, dropping from 40 hours to 39 hours. A joint working group of the employer and union will be set up to look at a further reduction to 38 hours or lower within 12 months, while another will also be established to review all terms and conditions.

A Livv Housing spokesperson said: “We are pleased that our employees have returned to work following the union’s recommendation to accept our existing offer, which included a pay award of 5% for last year and 2.7% this year, as well as a benchmarking of existing benefits.

“We take pride in knowing that our employment package is one of the most favourable in the sector, reflecting our commitment to our colleagues. Our priority has always been to invest in our homes, support our staff, and serve our customers and communities. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to working together to continue delivering on that promise.”

Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, added: “Massive congratulations to our members at Livv Housing who stood strong for eight months to win this fantastic deal.”
