Jet2 employees asked to take a pay cut of up to 30%

Package holiday provider Jet2 has given its employees an extra four days of annual leave this year, with the aim of helping its 12,500 employees look after their mental wellbeing.

The added leave allowance is on top of employees' annual leave for the 2022 calendar year, and can be taken at any time this year. Jet2 said this is a show of appreciation for those working during a difficult time.

In its annual report, the business said: “We are pleased to supplement all colleagues’ annual leave entitlement with a further four days leave during the 2022 calendar year. This will allow them further time to focus on their wellbeing and is a show of our appreciation for their dedication and loyalty throughout such a challenging period."

Last month, Jet2holidays awarded its employees an 8% pay rise, which will be followed by a further £1,000 bonus at the end of the summer. The announcement was made in the business’ preliminary unaudited results report for the year ended 31 March 2022, in which it stated that it had trimmed annual operating losses by 4% to £323.9 million for the 12 months to the end of March.

In addition, Jet2.com was the only UK airline not to cancel any flights during July, according to flight data published by travel intelligence firm OAG.

Steve Heapy, chief executive officer of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “There has been a lot of focus on the disruption affecting our industry, but this data shows that it is not all bad news. Thanks to our team of brilliant colleagues, we can proudly say that we operated every single flight despite July being the busiest month in our entire history.”
