Restaurant group The Big Table Group has expanded its financial wellbeing offering to its staff at Banana Tree and has introduced unrestricted usage of a flexible pay feature.
The group, which owns Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas restaurants, initially launched a partnership with financial wellbeing provider Wagestream in May 2019. The provider’s holistic financial wellbeing app gave the group’s users the ability to manage their budgeting, build up savings, and save money on bills.
Now, its Banana Tree employees will also be able to use the app, with all 4,000 staff at The Big Table Group’s restaurants able to access up to 40% of their pay throughout the month.
According to the group, the decision to expand its financial wellbeing offering is part of its commitment to positively impact employees’ financial wellbeing and to become a flexible pay employer. Financial wellbeing forms a key pillar of its overall wellbeing strategy, alongside mental health.
Hayley Moosa, HR director at Bella Italia, The Big Table Group, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Wagestream since May 2019. The platform is an important component of our overall wellbeing strategy at The Big Table Group. In today’s challenging economic climate, we were keen to enhance our highly valued partnership with Wagestream so that the offering was more accessible to a greater number of our colleagues. By empowering people to get paid flexibly we hope to benefit both their immediate and long-time financial health.”
In January this year, The Big Table Group rolled out a reward and recognition scheme to its employees in partnership with Each Person, offering them in the moment thank yous, the ability to fund eco-projects and encouraging healthy spending habits through its e-points store.
It also made mental health training mandatory for new joiners and has also committed to providing training opportunities for staff to become qualified mental health first aiders.
