Natwest Group, Citigroup and Pinsent Masons have been named as top flexible and family-friendly employers in the UK by charity Working Families.
Large and small employers from across the public, private and third sectors were judged for their approach to flexible and family-friendly working.
Other organisations that scored highly include Crown Prosecution Service, DWF, Grant Thornton, Independent Living Fund Scotland, North East London NHS Foundation Trust, Welsh Parliament and Yorkshire Building Society.
Employers were assessed using Working Families’ benchmark to find out how their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices specifically support parents and carers. These benchmarks included integration to organisational strategy and culture, the creation, development and deployment of flexible and family-friendly working policies and their take up, consistent practice, and evidence and statistics.
The charity also examined trends in flexible and family-friendly policies and practices, and this year surveyed nearly 500,000 UK employees across the organisations that applied to make the list.
The research found that 86% of small organisations and 64% of large organisations said that at least three-quarters of their employees were currently working flexibly. Nearly two-thirds reported a reduction in business travel costs and more than half saw a reduction in real estate costs and an increase in productivity.
Jane van Zyl, chief executive officer of Working Families, said: “We are delighted to recognise the outstanding organisations that made our top employers for working families list this year. These employers excelled in our rigorous benchmarking process, proving they are leading the way in building family-friendly workplaces in the UK.
“The variety of sizes and sectors represented on this year’s list demonstrates that with a commitment to best practice and an appetite to innovate it is possible for any organisation to support their people through embedding flexible and family-friendly practices.”
