UK housebuilder Keepmoat has announced that it has entered a partnership to support the wellbeing and mental health of its employees.
The partnership is with construction wellbeing organisation The Lighthouse Charity, which promotes the wellbeing of people working within the construction sector, with support including mental health, physical wellbeing and financial support. It forms part of the housebuilder’s ‘Valuing Difference’ initiative, which is dedicated to supporting its employees.
Through the collaboration, Keepmoat employees, department leaders and managers will be equipped with the tools to handle mental health and wellbeing discussions effectively. They will also be able to signpost colleagues to health and wellbeing services and benefits.
As well as donating £10,000 to support the charity with its ongoing services, Keepmoat has also pledged to train 50 mental health first aiders by the end of the year. They will be trained directly by The Lighthouse Charity.
Keepmoat has also signed the Building Mental Health Charter, which is spearheaded by Lighthouse and the Construction Industry Training Board, as part of its commitment to its staff and stakeholders.
Debbie Waddington, group HR director at Keepmoat, said: “I believe that a great workplace is one where every individual feels valued and empowered to thrive. That’s why at Keepmoat we place great emphasis on the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. Mental health challenges don’t just affect individuals, they impact teams, productivity, and ultimately, the success of the company. By supporting mental wellbeing, Keepmoat is creating a sustainable and healthy environment where everyone can perform at their best, ensuring every employee feels safe, heard, and supported.”
Sarah Bolton, chief executive officer of the Lighthouse Charity, added: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Keepmoat for its continued support. Keepmoat’s proactive stance in supporting its teams and promoting our charitable services continues to open conversations around positive wellbeing and helps to create a supportive working environment for everyone in our industry.”
