Milewood

Milewood has committed to becoming a menopause-friendly employer and receiving official accreditation.

Milewood is a provider of living services for adults with disabilities in England, operating more than 45 homes across the UK.

As part of its commitment, Milewood will work with Menopause Friendly to introduce a new menopause policy, alongside a range of resources and initiatives designed to help employees at every stage of the condition. These include the creation of a menopause café, a safe and supportive space for open conversations, and guidance and training to help its managers provide the right support to their teams.

This approach is intended to underline Milewood’s goal of supporting its 920 employees’ wellbeing, while also fostering an inclusive and caring working environment.

Dan Blackith, head of people and culture at Milewood, said: “At Milewood, we are dedicated to creating a workplace where every employee feels supported, respected and valued. Menopause can have a significant impact on people’s lives and careers, and we want to ensure that our teams feel able to talk openly and access the help they need.

“By becoming a menopause-friendly employer, we are reinforcing our commitment to the wellbeing of our employees and the people we support in our services and continuing to build an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. The accreditation process is very comprehensive, but it will ensure that our policies are thorough, and that we can support employees in the best way possible.”

Milewood also offers its employees flexible working, a £500 welcome bonus, a discount scheme, a pension scheme, an employee assistance programme, 24/7 access to a GP and face-to-face counselling, a discounted health cash plan, mental health support, self-help books and wellbeing tools, an employee referral scheme, and financial wellbeing support through a partnership with NEFirst credit union.
