Huddersfield Town Football Club has received menstruation-friendly accreditation in recognition of its practices embracing menstrual health in the workplace.

The accreditation, established by Henpicked, is awarded by an independent panel of experts. To achieve it, the club had to show effectiveness in its culture, policies and practices, training, engagement, and working environment.

The club engaged in training for its whole workforce so that male employees could benefit from learning about female colleagues’ experiences. It saw many become strong allies and advocates for female inclusion, both at work and with friends and family.

In addition, it collated comprehensive information, built a resource library for employees and wrote a menstruation policy. It sits alongside its Terriers Together equality, diversity and inclusion strategy, which ensures the club continues to strive to improve female inclusion and representation.

Club chairman Kevin Nagle, chief executive officer Jake Edwards, and chief operating officer David Threlfall-Sykes supported the accreditation by helping to drive the strategy forward.

Zoe Shackleton, head of HR and equality, diversity and inclusion at Huddersfield Town Football Club, said: “In 2025, no one should be afraid to talk about menstruation and menopause and the work we are doing has really opened up an important dialogue and is helping our female employees to get the support they need.

“Normalising the conversation around periods has had a big impact. It’s very powerful to be able to talk comfortably about periods in a football environment and know that employees genuinely understand, are interested and care about the wellbeing of our female team members. It helped by already being a menopause-friendly employer. There is no doubt that having male allies, particularly in senior positions, who feel able to talk about menstruation, makes other people feel more comfortable to do the same.”
