US healthcare and pharmacy firm CVS Health has received menopause-friendly accreditation as part of its commitment to supporting employees through the condition and their aging journeys.
The accreditation was awarded by Midovia, an organisation dedicated to supporting workplace menopause services, education and advocacy. It is given to organisations that go beyond awareness to implement meaningful change in addressing menopause care.
CVS Health was recognised due to its increasing menopause education to inform employees and train managers about the impact in the workplace, access to clinicians trained in menopause care, and offering tailored resources to support midlife health.
It was also rewarded for its peer support and coaching, creating open forums for leaders to share their experiences and opportunities for all staff to attend menopause peer support groups, and partnering with the Menopause Society to invest in menopause training for its clinicians and care managers, to support evidence-based practices for symptom management.
Offering menopause support is part of the employer’s strategy to provide personalised and effective care, aligned benefits, educational resources and peer support services. It has developed customised programmes and solutions to support every stage of a woman’s health journey.
Dr Joanne Armstrong, vice president and chief medical officer of women’s health and genomics at CVS Health, said: “CVS Health is always looking for opportunities to support the personalised needs of our employees and the people we serve through all stages of their health journeys. Menopause is not addressed enough in the workplace, and more work needs to be done to help women navigate through this critical time in their lives. CVS Health receiving the accreditation validates the work we’re doing to help ensure women have access to the resources they need to live as healthy as possible.”
April Haberman, chief executive officer at Midovia, added: “We are honored to recognise CVS Health as a pioneer in workplace menopause support. This is more than just an accreditation, it’s a call to action for employers across the US to prioritise the wellbeing of midlife employees. CVS Health’s leadership demonstrates that providing support for women experiencing menopause is not just a health imperative, it’s a critical business need for employee retention, wellbeing and productivity.”
