Restaurant chain Las Iguanas has reintroduced its employee incentive trip Race to Rio tour this year, following a hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic, offering around 20 of its workers the chance to visit the Brazilian capital in April.
According to the chain, which is owned by Big Table Group (BTG) chain, places on the all-expenses paid trip can be secured by achieving high Mystery Diner scores. VIP seats will also be awarded to the general manager of the year and the two runners up at last autumn’s BTG conference.
Over the course of a week, the winners will be able to visit Sugar Loaf Mountain, Corcovado to see Christ the Redeemer, the Sambadrome, a football match at the Maracanã stadium, Copacabana beach, the home of Las Iguanas’ Magnifica Cachaça to sample Caipirinha cocktails, and its partner charity Projeto Vidançar in the Alemão Complex favela.
Las Iguanas has also planned for excursions to Cuba and Mexico in conjunction with the restaurant’s suppliers during 2023, as well as Iguanacamp, its summer support managers’ conference and social. It also hosts regular competitions and prize draws such as the monthly ‘Your Rent Paid’ giveaway, and on the spot ‘Nice-ness’ rewards.
Alan Morgan, chief executive officer of BTG, said: “Las Iguanas is a genuinely fun and exciting place to work. People join because they love the Latin American vibes, but they stay because of the family atmosphere and the incredible, money-can’t-buy experiences we’re able to offer. Our Race to Rio trips have had an amazing impact on so many people throughout our business over the years, and I’m thrilled that more team members than ever will have the opportunity to enjoy this trip of a lifetime this year.”
Las Iguanas and other BTG restaurants offer benefits such as 50% team discount in all of the group brands, 25% friends and family discount cards, a spend and save platform, discounted gym membership, cheaper tickets to Merlin attractions, an employee support package that includes access to virtual GPs and mental health support, and financial or legal advice, access to Wagestream and Salary Finance, and charity days.
