Something for the weekend: Lakeside North Harbour in Portsmouth has launched an egg-citing wildlife project in partnership with chat operator Visitor Chat, in order to support employee wellbeing and productivity while also protecting the environment.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust carried out an ecological and wildlife survey, and made recommendations for insect habitats and boxes for a range of birds identified on the Lakeside campus to be installed as part of an im-peck-able bird viewing area, which was funded by Visitor Chat.
These included standard boxes for blue tits and great tits, open fronted boxes for robins, wrens, starling, woodpeckers and nuthatches, and sparrow terraces, along with bird feeding stations and insect hotels.
According to Lakeside, the aim of the initiative was to protect the bird population on site while also providing employees with a peaceful and quiet area in the rugged woodland and by a large lake, to enjoy watching wildlife undisturbed.
