Online gaming provider William Hill has launched a physical and mental wellbeing campaign, titled 'Be your best self', for its staff based in Leeds, London and Gibraltar.
William Hill, which employs 16,000 people across eight countries, ran a series of interactive three-hour workshops for senior leaders, as well as pop-up events for all staff, at the three locations in March 2019. The campaign was designed and delivered by health and wellbeing provider Let's Get Healthy.
The workshops provided 60 members of senior leadership with evidence-based techniques for improving rest and recovery, boosting emotional resilience and staying physically and mentally healthy. The organisation aims to have leaders cascade this information down throughout their teams, using training guides and animated videos.
The managers will also be provided with guides entitled 'Achieving your best self' and 'Train your brain', to aid in disseminating this information among staff.
The pop-up events allowed all employees based in Leeds, London and Gibraltar to access 15 minute sessions with a Let's Get Healthy physiologist. This enabled them to check biometrics such as their blood pressure, and to get advice on resilience, energy and healthy sleep patterns.
This initiative fits with William Hill's holistic approach to wellbeing, which sees it provide an employee assistance programme (EAP), as well as access to critical care providers and mindfulness, breathing and stretching exercises via the Unmind App.
The sessions were communicated to employees at a management event in January 2019, which discussed the topic of emotional intelligence. The message was then dispersed to all employees in a series of emails in the weeks leading up to the events.
Mark Skinner, HR director at William Hill, said: "Our ambition is to make health and wellbeing a topic all of our [employees] feel able to talk about, knowing that they’ll be supported in their endeavours to be their best self at work."
