Employee Benefits poll: Two-fifths (40%) of organisations revealed that their biggest HR priority this year is staff recruitment and retention, according to a survey of Employee Benefits readers.
Meanwhile, 13% of respondents said diversity, equity and inclusion, and retaining talent were their largest priorites this year, 10% answered reducing absenteeism and 7% cited employee engagement.
Supporting employees’ wellbeing, meeting pay expectations, managing remote and hybrid working expectations, providing a good employee experience and work-life balance, and ensuring a positive workplace culture were all cited as their biggest priorities this year by 3% of respondents.
Last month, Employee Benefits reported that retaining skilled employees, recruiting staff, and supporting mental health and wellbeing at work were the top three priorities for HR teams this year, according to research by Ciphr.
The HR software provider also found that meeting salary expectations, diversity, equity and inclusion, employee engagement, and managing hybrid working also ranked in HR teams’ list of priorities.
Claire Williams, chief people and operations officer at Ciphr, said: “Employers need to step up and invest in their people if they want to hire the best talent and then retain them. Investing in people doesn’t necessarily need huge budgets. Go back to basics and overhaul the employee value proposition to ensure that every aspect of the employee experience has been considered.
“Use data from existing employees and recent leavers to understand where there is room for improvement. And do some research into what other organisations are doing well. Creating clear purpose, transparency and good communications, a strong and forward-thinking culture, diversity and social impact, all come down to the time that leaders are willing to put in and spend with their employees.”
