Financial services consultancy Quantum Advisory has launched a new volunteering leave benefit for its 123 employees, enabling staff across its five operating sites in Amersham, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and London to fulfil charity commitments.
The leave initiative, implemented in August 2019, allows employees to take the equivalent of one full day of paid leave in order to support a charity of project of their choice; the leave can be spread out in shorter increments over a 12-month period, according to the employee's preference.
Staff are able to use the volunteering leave to support one or more registered charities or recognised voluntary organisations of their choice. They can also use it to assist with response projects to local crises or emergencies.
Quantum Advisory introduced the benefit to inspire employees to have greater involvement in their local community, as well as to give staff the opportunity to build and develop individual skills and knowledge.
Managers were informed about the volunteering leave in the week commencing 12 August 2019, with instructions to cascade the details to their teams. Staff also received an email about volunteering leave on 19 August 2019; this information is also now available via the organisation’s internal employee handbook.
David Deidun, partner at Quantum Advisory, said: “Volunteering provides a range of benefits for not only our employees, but the organisation as a whole.
“It enables employees to make a more active contribution to causes they care about, [while] also gaining experience and skills to help with their personal development.
“Quantum [Advisory] itself will benefit as a socially responsible employer with increased employee engagement.”
