Leeds-based marketing agency Loaded PR has introduced a ‘work when you want’ model for its six members of staff.
The initiative, which allows the team to work the majority of their contracted hours when and where suits them, is designed to help maintain employee wellbeing, sustain productivity, enhance creativity and provide greater support to clients.
Director Gemma Birbeck said it had been implemented due to her belief that people should be able to work when they are at their most creative and productive, which is not always the traditional hours of 9am to 5pm.
Employees will to continue to have regular away days at various locations across Yorkshire, and attend face-to-face meetings with clients when necessary. The firm’s office will also be available for a change of working environment or if staff want to meet up in person.
Both Birbeck and operations director Kris Brook will continue to work in the office between the hours of 8.30am and 5.30pm, and there will always be a member of the team available between 7am and 10pm every weekday to ensure continued support for clients.
Birbeck explained that she feels “lucky” to have faith in her team as trust and effective communication are key attributes in the success of the model.
“As a team working remotely for most of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we found each of us had different times of day when we felt at our most creative and productive, and clients seemed to respond really well to having extended hours of support," she said.
“Employee wellbeing is extremely important to me and I feel that as the working world around us evolves alongside the need for a better work-life balance, it’s my responsibility to make sure we are responding and evolving alongside it. All of these reasons are why we have introduced this model."
