American clothing organisation Levi Strauss and Co had introduced paid sick leave for part-time store employees in the United States (US).
This benefit, which was previously only available to full-time employees, will continue to be available to part-time employees when the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic subsides, with staff able to access this if they or a family member is sick.
Part-time employees will be eligible for one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours that they have worked, up to a total of 80 hours of paid sick time annually.
In a message originally sent to employees, Chip Bergh, president and chief executive at Levi Strauss and Co, said: "This provides our US employees with a level of benefits similar to those provided in most other markets around the world.
"This new policy reflects our commitment to protecting our people and building a stronger, more resilient team for the future. We will see this new policy as an investment in the future of our business and we hope to see other businesses join us in extending sick leave to more employees."
