Darlington-based power firm Cummins has signed the menopause workplace pledge to support employees impacted by the menopause.
By signing the pledge, which was set up by charity Wellbeing for Women, Cummins will commit to providing a toolkit and guidance to staff on how they can support themselves or colleagues experiencing the menopause.
It has already introduced Initiatives that support the pledge, such as flexible working schedules, increased availability of temperature control and easy access to sanitary products. Cummins will also provide additional support through its Women’s Empowerment Network.
According to the organisation, it signed the pledge as a further commitment to its core value of diversity and inclusion, where everyone thrives when they are included and respected, and to create stronger environments where everyone belongs.
Craig Thomas, executive director at Cummins Engine Company, said: “Educating ourselves and others about the impact of menopause on women’s health and wellbeing is a crucial step for employers to ensure women are fully supported and empowered in the workplace. It’s time to break the silence and stigma around menopause in every area of our lives, including work. Signing this pledge also forms an important part of our wider business objective to make Cummins as inclusive as possible for all employees."
Cummins also offers its employees a pension scheme, medical, dental and life Insurance, a profit share scheme, healthcare benefits, parental leave, adoption assistance, flexible-working arrangements, a flexible spending account and an employee share purchase scheme.
