Chelsea Coates, formerly vice president of people at London-based technology scale-up Global Web Index (GWI), has been promoted to chief people officer (CPO) as of 1 April.
Following its latest series B funding of $180 million (£136.9 million), Coates will play a critical role in supporting GWI through the next phase of its growth plans.
In her new role, she will be leading and managing the people team in a scale-up environment, helping them to navigate the complexity of a scale-up while also driving a healthy culture.
Coates brings 15 years of experience working in the people space, heading up learning and development teams through rapid scale-up at WeWork and Groupon.
She has used her leadership skills to help businesses and leaders navigate their teams through the complexities of hyper-growth and business transformations, all the while driving an inclusive culture.
Coates said: “I am thrilled to be stepping into the CPO role at Global Web Index. Since joining the business two years ago, I've seen incredible growth and there is lots more to come. We're entering an exciting new phase and I'll be using my experience at hyper-growth organisations to build on our positive culture, grow the global team, and create a working environment that gets the best from our people both now and in the future.”
