Ford has held a series of seminars on financial education, diversity and work-life issues for staff across its seven sites.

Financial education presentations, run by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), have been held at a number of the car manufacturer's workplaces including its Dunton plant, which employs 3,000 staff.

Brian Bennett, manager of corporate affairs at Ford, said: "Rather than staff having to investigate [money] matters externally, Ford facilitates the FSA coming to our locations to advise employees."

The seminars gave staff guidance on financial matters generally as well as on borrowing, mortgage interest rates, pensions and financial goals. They were also given information on comparing savings accounts, pension schemes and mortgages.

The month-long programme also provided Ford's 12,000 UK staff with the opportunity to attend sessions on diversity and workplace issues, including men's health, sign language, climate change and numeracy.

"The diversity and work-life programme underlines Ford's commitment to be a leader in diversity by providing a fair and inclusive working environment that ensures equality of opportunity to enable all employees to contribute fully to the business and to achieve personal development on the basis of their abilities," said Bennett.
