Costco, Facebook, Google, Nasa, SAS and Southwest Airlines are among those named on Forbes’ America’s Best Employers 2016 list.

The ranking is based on a survey of 30,000 US employees that work for organisations employing more than 5,000 staff.

The listing recognises organisations’ whose employees would recommend them to others as a great place to work, as well as respondents’ perceptions of employers.

Employers are ranked overall, as well as by industry.

The top 15 organisations in the overall ranking are:

  3. Costco Wholesale
  4. Wegmans Food Markets
  5. United Services Automobile Association
  6. SAS
  7. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
  8. Jetblue Airways
  9. Mayo Clinic
  10. Seattle Children’s Hospital
  11. Facebook
  12. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  13. Southwest Airlines
  14. Duke University
  15. CBRE Group
Jim Goodnight, chief executive officer at analytics and software firm SAS, said: “At SAS, we set the bar high for our employees and give them a culture that offers them balance in their lives, while fostering innovation. If employees feel good about their work and their work environment, they're going to make customers happy.”
