Immigration services provider Fragomen has introduced a hybrid working model in order to provide flexibility and choice to its 4,500 strong global workforce.

The policy was been put into place earlier this month by all of its 55 offices around the world, which includes 486 members of staff based in the UK. It will be dependent on Covid-19 (Coronavirus) restrictions, guidelines, and local labour laws, and was formulated following feedback from employees through surveys and focus group discussions.

According to the organisation, the initiative offers employees the opportunity to work remotely up to three days per week and provides greater flexibility in how they structure their working day. They can combine remote and office working and blend their personal preferences with client and business needs.

This new development follows intensive planning and research into best practice and the future of work in a post-pandemic environment.

Vivek Wadhwa, Fragomen’s chief operating officer, commented that innovation has always been a key focus and that it makes sense to apply the same progressive thinking to its people policies as it does across the rest of the business, recognising that flexibility and agility is needed in today’s working environment.

Wadhwa said that while there are great benefits to working from home, it is important to have in-person meetings, cross-team collaboration, on-site training opportunities and support new joiners, believing that an office environment will be conducive to success.

“Our new approach builds on the great progress we have made over the last year, acknowledges the incredible work of our people during that time, and leads into a workplace future made possible by what we have learned in this unprecedented time. As we carefully open our offices again, a more flexible, hybrid model will bring efficiencies in the way we spend our time, as well as make a continued impact on our sustainability, reducing travel and our carbon footprint,” Wadhwa added.
