Asda reports 8.4% mean gender pay gap

UK supermarket chain Asda, which employs more than 140,000 people, has selected finance and HR cloud application provider Workday as part of its aim to support its global workforce by delivering an enhanced employee experience.

According to the supermarket, it chose Workday to gain a unified view of its workforce and to deliver personalised and engaging employee experiences to keep pace with evolving talent needs.

The partnership has given Asda and its employees access to Workday’s human capital management, absence management, benefits, compensation, learning, prism analytics and recruiting technology.

This will enable it to use a single system for its employees to track and manage their time off, while providing managers with a view into staff absence plans. It will also provide employees with opportunities to grow and develop their skills through personalised and recommended learning and training content, and will bring its people and third-party point of sale and survey data together to help improve organisational performance.

Hayley Tatum, chief people officer at Asda, said: “We want to inspire and enable our colleagues. Workday will provide employees with the tools to learn and develop new skills relevant to their roles, while helping us to sharpen team and business performance. Its agile technology architecture means that we’ll be able to take on tomorrow’s challenges, helping to ensure that our colleagues have the support they need.”
