Travelodge and National Grid have been shortlisted for the Best financial wellbeing strategy category at the Employee Benefits Awards 2026.
The category, which is sponsored by Wealth at Work, celebrates the work of employers that have taken a proactive approach to their employees’ financial needs, supporting staff to make positive financial, retirement or investment-related benefits decisions. It recognises employers that succeeded in improving and supporting the financial wellbeing and education of their workforce during 2025.
The full category shortlist is:
- Baillie Gifford
- Brewers Decorator Centres
- Centrica
- Defra group
- Fintel
- National Care Group
- National Grid
- TPICAP
- Travelodge
- Utility Warehouse
Last year, the award was split into two categories for large and smaller employers. Housing 21 won the large employer award and Thrive Learning won the small employer award.
Housing 21 was recognised due to the introduction of a pensions salary sacrifice arrangement, which generated thousands of pounds worth of employer and employee national insurance savings. These were reinvested into an employer-funded health cash plan. It also delivered a financial education programme to support pensions and retirement planning.
A Housing 21 spokesperson said: “We have really invested in our financial wellbeing strategy by looking at the demographics of our organisation and identifying that it’s a challenging time for our people. We’ve looked at our employment offer and how we can better reinvest into our employees and help them to manage their money in the best way possible.”
Now in its 24th year, the Employee Benefits Awards celebrates individuals and teams displaying excellence through their reward and benefits strategies. It will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on Friday 26 June.
The daytime event will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment and the chance to network with industry professionals.
